Addison Roof-Mounted Solar

We mount panels on your roof with care: each mount goes into a rafter, each penetration is flashed and sealed, and no wiring rests on the shingles. Before any design work, we inspect your roof and give you a straight answer on whether it's ready for solar.

Panels on the roof you already have

Roof-mounted solar sets panels on aluminum rails that attach through your shingles into the rafters below. It uses space that is already doing nothing all day, keeps your yard clear and puts the panels where the sun hits hardest. The catch is that every attachment is a hole in your roof, so how those holes are made and sealed matters more than anything else on the job.

Many homes around Addison have composition shingle roofs with broad south or west planes, which suit panels well. Our work is finding the rafters, flashing each mount properly and routing wire so your roof still sheds water the way it was built to.

From the first roof look to the final walk-around, one person on our team is your contact. You ask your questions once, and that same person keeps the crew, the permit and the paperwork moving.

What's part of the job

  1. 01

    Inspection of roof and attic

We check how old the shingles are, look for soft areas and lost granules, and measure rafter size and spacing from inside the attic. If the roof is nearly worn out, you hear it before spending a dime, so that work can come first and you avoid paying to take panels down later.

  2. 02

A layout that respects vents and walkways

The array is planned around plumbing vents, ridges and the open paths fire code calls for. That keeps it code-compliant and easier to reach later.

  3. 03

    Rafter-anchored, flashed mounts

Every mount is lag-bolted into a rafter rather than just the decking. Metal flashing tucks under the shingle row above and gets sealed, so rain flows over the mount, not through it.

  4. 04

    Rails and panels

Rails are set level and grounded, and panels are clamped to stand up to North Texas wind. Our modules are hail impact-tested.

  5. 05

    Clean wiring and conduit

Wires are clipped beneath the panels and never left on the shingles. Conduit runs stay short and neat, routed through the attic when it makes sense.

  6. 06

Permits and sign-offs taken care of

Your contact files the building permit and meets the city inspector when the work is checked. We also send your utility the paperwork it requires before the system can turn on, so nothing lands on you.

Signs roof-mounted solar fits your home

  • Open south or west roof

A roof plane with little shade from trees or neighboring houses is the best spot for panels. East-facing roofs can work too; we will show you the numbers.

  • Little room in the yard

Most lots here do not have space for a ground array, and a roof system keeps the yard free.

  • A roof with years left

Newer or recently replaced shingles mean the panels and the roof can last together without a costly removal later.

  • Summer bills that sting

If your electric bill jumps every July and August while the air conditioning runs, panels produce the most right when you use the most.

  • Vague answers elsewhere

If another company could not explain how its mounts are attached and sealed, call us. We will walk you through ours, step by step.

How a roof-mounted job runs

  1. 1

A call and a roof look

You call, tell us about your home and your bills, and we set a time to look at the roof and attic. Your contact person starts here and stays with you.

  2. 2

    Design and written estimate

We lay out the panels, estimate production and give you a line-item estimate. Nothing is hidden in a single lump sum.

  3. 3

    Permit

We file the permit with your city and let you know when it is approved and when the crew is coming.

  4. 4

    Install day

The crew sets ladders, protects your landscaping and works from the rafters out. Many roof jobs wrap up in a day or two. Before leaving, we sweep the yard and driveway with a magnet for stray screws.

  5. 5

    Inspection and switch-on

After the city inspection and the utility's approval, we turn the system on and show you how to read the monitoring app.

What changes the price

No two roofs are alike, so we base the price on what we find on yours. The written estimate itemizes each part of the work, and we'll go over any line you want explained.

Number of panels and roof faces
A larger system costs more, and splitting it over several roof faces means more racking and wiring work.
Slope, height and reach
Steep roofs and two-story homes call for more safety setup and slower work.
What your roof is made of
Composition shingle is the simplest. Tile and standing-seam metal need different mounts and gentler handling.
Your main electrical panel
If the main panel is old or full, it may need upgrading before the system can tie in.
The gear you choose
The panel brand, microinverters or a string inverter, and whether you add a battery all shift the total.

Questions about roof-mounted solar

Will drilling into my roof cause leaks?

Leaks come from mounts that miss the rafter or skip proper flashing. We fasten every mount into a rafter, slide flashing under the shingle above and seal it. If you ever see a water stain after an install, call us and your contact will get someone out to look.

What if my roof will need replacing soon?

We will tell you plainly during the roof check. It usually makes sense to handle the roof first, then install panels on the fresh shingles so you are not paying to remove and reset them a few years later.

Can you put panels on tile or metal roofs?

Yes. Tile needs replacement hooks or flashed tile mounts and careful handling so tiles are not cracked. Standing-seam metal often allows clamps on the seams with no holes at all.

What happens to the panels in a hailstorm?

Solar panels use tempered glass and are tested for hail impact, so they often come through storms that damage shingles. If a panel is hit hard, our solar repair service can test and replace it.

Who do I talk to while the job is going on?

One person, the whole way through. The same contact who looks at your roof handles scheduling, the permit, inspection and cleanup, so you always know who to call.
